Brazil Travel Film Scholarship

Aspiring filmmakers, travel enthusiasts, Carnival devotees — this one’s for you.

Our friends at WorldNomads.com are seeking their next travel scholar — they are looking for someone, or a team of two, who are passionate about travel film and show that he, she, or they have what it takes to make inspirational short films during a ten day trip to Rio during next year’s Carnival. On top of the filming, the winner is also headed for an authentic adventure that will take them under the skin of Brazilian life. WorldNomads.com is looking for people who are not just comfortable filming, but also being in front of the camera, flexible for adventure, and charismatic so that viewers can experience the journey with you.

The winner or winning team will be sent to Rio for a 10 day customized film trip. At the start of their trip they will meet up with local Triptrotters who will guide their way down the alleys of Santa Teresa, teach them to play footvolley at Copacabana, or treat them to the best empanadas in town. The trip will continue with a number of specialized activities, from being engulfed in the Carnival parade to visiting an International Volunteer HQ project that focuses on building safe and weather proof houses in the Barriera do Vasco favela. Throughout the trip the winner will make several 3-5 minute films under the mentorship of renowned travel filmmaker Trent O’Donnell. Upon return, they will have 2 months to edit and submit back to WorldNomads, who will then, of course, make the winner a film superstar!

Applications are accepted from now until October 15.

You must be available to travel between February 6-17, 2013.
